Several of my homemade products I would love to use Essential Orange Oil. I do not want to keep going to the store to purchase things. So I went looking for a way to make my own orange oil at home. I found a great way to make fresh homemade orange oil.
Homemade Orange Oil:
Oranges
Take oranges that you have at home and save the peelings. (My kids and I ate some oranges for breakfast, so we took the peelings to make this oil.)
Place the peelings in a crock pot and pour in 2 inches of water. Set the crock pot on low and let it simmer all day.
At the end of the day remove the peelings and you have Orange Oil!

Homemade Powder Dishwasher Detergent

Powdered Dishwasher Detergent:
1 cup Baking Soda
1 cup Borax
1/4 cup Kosher Salt
1/4 cup Citric Acid
20-25 drops of Orange Essential Oil (you can use other scented oils if you prefer)

Once mixed it is ready to use!
** I used an old coffee container to hold my detergent.

Homemade Toothpaste
The third and final thing we made today was toothpaste. I had my children mix the ingredients, they really enjoy making these things for our home! The toothpaste is different than what you buy in the store (that contains chemicals), but it taste good and leaves your mouth feeling fresh.
Homemade Toothpaste:
2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
3 Tablespoons baking soda
1/2 small packet of Stevia Powder
20-25 drops of Peppermint Oil
Mix all of the ingredients together in a small bowl. You can use a fork or a whisk to mix (I found a whisk worked best for us).
Stir to mix thoroughly, you want it to be as smooth as you can get it.
**We added 20 drops of Peppermint oil and then tested it and decided to add 5 more. You can also use Spearmint oil to not make it so hot.

Homemade Shampoo
The second thing we made today was shampoo, again my children helped to make this. This shampoo makes your hair soft and shiny! Gives hair a very natural and healthy feel!
Recipe Shampoo:
Using an old shampoo bottle take 2 to 3 drops of Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap and add it to 1 cup of water. Stir the ingredients together (do NOT shake, it will create a big mess)
**I added more drops to get the soap to lather a little more.

Homemade Laundry Soap
Today my family made homemade laundry soap. This is the first thing we are making in our journey to rid our home of chemicals! I had my children help in this process. They really had a blast helping! It was quick to make, and I was able to use it right away. Our clothes came out soft and fresh. No smells of chemicals! We are completely satisfied!
Recipe for All Natural Liquid Laundry Soap:
34 cups Water
2 cups Washing Soda**
2 cups Borax
2 cups Soap Flakes (we grated a bar of pure natural soap with food grater)
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
Then add grated natural soap to the boiling water and dissolve over low heat.
Pour soap/water mixture into the container (we used a 5 gallon bucket with a lid)
Then stir in the washing soda and borax until it disappears.
Finally, add 30 cups of water to the mixture, and stir.
The Soap is ready to use. We use 1/2 cup of soap for a load of laundry.
**Use baking soda and place in the oven at 400 F for 30 minutes. This turns baking soda into washing soda.

I am creating this blog to share and express my passion for a safe and simple life. A life where God and my family are my focus and drive. I am concerned with our government, economic state, and the health of my family. The government has gotten too big, and has taken the power away from the people and the states. We are the United States, meaning that each state is separate and has the right to have different views and laws than other states. We all come together united to protect our country and states.
It is a very scary time, so many people are without jobs. There are not enough jobs for everyone. We have families who have lost all their income and means to provide for their families. This is very scary!
I have recently watched several documentary's that have brought to light and into focus many problems we are facing today. So my family is going to jump into action and do whatever we can to change our lifestyle. We have always wanted a simplier life. Our lives are filled with so many chemicals that can harm us. Why do we allow these products into our homes? We must act, get rid of all the harmful things in our homes. These chemicals are scary and dangerous. I am worried what these chemicals can do to our children.
I am a stay at home mom of 3 beautiful and amazing children and a wife. It is my job to provide a clean safe home for my family. I always strive at doing everything I can for my family. This spring I had a desire to plant a garden. I had always had a black thumb when it came to plants but I planted a garden anyway. I have done really well with my food garden! Then a few months back I had an erg to can the food from my garden. I had never canned anything before. I just got a food canner and figured it out as I went. I was also successful at this. I canned fruits and jellies and plan to can more.
Now I come to today. I watched a documentary called "Chemerical: Redefining Clean for a New Generation", it was an eye opener! It was about every day products that we use in our homes that contain chemicals. This video has now brought to life another new journey. I am going to make our own home products to use in our home. I feel that these things will bring a peace to our home, a modern primitive family.
